Residential Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Permit Guidelines PURPOSE:

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) and Department of Permitting Services will hold a public meeting to brief the community on and receive feedback about the new Residential EV Charging Permit guidelines.

An electric vehicle charging station, also called EV charging station, supplies electric energy for the recharging of electric vehicles or, plug-in hybrids. An electrical permit is required prior to the installation of a residential EV charging station if there are no existing outlets (requiring wiring of a dedicated circuit). Electrical permits must be applied for online using DPS ePermits.
